If you have a paid SSL certificate with domain validation and you’re performing the installation steps yourself, you may need to go through the validation process before the installation. At what stage does this validation appear?
- After purchasing the SSL certificate, generate a CSR. Copy the CSR code and access your customer panel at www.fastpanda.co.uk
- Click on the “Sign In” button on the opened page, enter your customer panel information, and click the “Log in” button to log in to your account.
- Click on the “SSL Certificate” option in the left menu.
- Click the “Manage Product” button for the SSL service you have purchased.
- Click the “Creating Certificate” button under the “SSL Configuration” section
- The screen that appears will ask for your CSR code. Paste the CSR code you copied into this field (including dashes). Select the SSL validation method from the “Validation Type” section
- When you click the “Validation Type” button, three types of validation methods will appear.
Email Validation
This method is used to verify whether the customer has control over the domain. A verification message is sent to an email address. The verification email contains a link, and clicking on this link is required to complete the validation. The important point here is that a random email cannot be chosen for validation. One of the following email addresses should be used. If you do not have any of the email accounts listed below, you will need to create one.
File Upload Validation
This method is used to verify whether the customer has control over the website. The file provided by the system needs to be uploaded to the root directory of the website. For example, the directory where the file should be uploaded is as follows:
https://yourdomain.com/.well-known/pki-validation
If you selected File as the verification method, click the ‘Manage Product’ button for the SSL certificate. You will see the information that needs to be added as a file on the screen.
DNS Record Validation
This method is used to verify whether the customer has control over the DNS. The website owner is required to add a TXT or CNAME record to the domain’s DNS management area, which will be reflected in the system.
If you selected DNS as the verification method, click the ‘Manage Product’ button for the SSL certificate. You will see the record that needs to be added on the screen.
- After selecting the validation method that suits your preference, click the “Create” button.
- After the validation process is complete, click the “Manage Product” button for the SSL service. From the screen that appears, you can download the certificate files and proceed with the installation.
Note: For certificates that require documentation, such as EV SSL, the SSL validation is performed first, followed by the document verification process.
